Do renovation works require a licensed plumber?
In Québec, construction work performed for others must be carried out by a contractor holding a licence from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ). Beyond the requirement, the licence protects the client: it governs the contractor’s qualification, and an unlicensed installer can complicate an insurance claim if something goes wrong.
How long does installing a fixture take?
It depends entirely on what is already in place. Replacing a fixture in the same spot, with accessible fittings and an existing shut-off valve, is quick. Relocating a water point means altering supply, drainage and sometimes venting: that is a different job altogether. This is why a quote starts with assessing the actual situation.
Can I supply my own fixtures?
Yes, that is common, especially when the look matters to you. Confirm the model before buying: connection dimensions and outlet positions vary between models, and a fixture that does not suit the existing rough-in can add work that was not planned for.
